Best way to sell a large collection. Help, please.

I don't need prices on anything, so don't worry about that, I know a large majority of them are commen, but, there are also 7 large folders that can nothing but known stars ( I think they are ) Such as Ken Griffey, Jose Conseco, Bo Jackson, Mark McGwire, Nolan Ryan etc.... Anyways, to sum it up, I have around the area of over 15,000 cards, 2,000 of which are "stars" like I mentioned above in folders. I've looked through one of the long boxes that contain sleeveless cards ( unprotected ) , and have pulled out a couple ken griffeys, etc. I've purchased a Beckett, and have looked up some prices of the cards that are in the folders, nothing too big from the 5 cards I pulled out to check up on, 10.00, 60.00, 3.00 etc.
Anyways, to my point, If I were to sell these on e-bay, which would be the best route to go? Simply pick out random cards from the boxes, and maybe a couple of the ones in the folders? Sell the folders by themselves, then sell off the boxes as Unsearched? Any help would be much appreciated. Cards date from 1970 - 2002. Are there any special cards that I should look for? ( As far as type ).
Thanks in advance.

You'll have to be more clear on what "best" means. If you sell more cards individually, you will get the most money, but this also includes a lot more work (more postings, deals to keep track of, packaging, trips to the post office). If you bundle the cards together, you will most likely get a lower total price, but will save lots of time.

I would say try to sell everything that books for $10-15+ individually (and expect to get about 1/4 to 1/3 of book). Then bundle the other stars. You could do lots of individual players (ie lot of 50 Nolan Ryan cards as one auction).

For lots, in the auction title, put in as many player names and brands as you can. For example "Schmidt Rose Ryan Ripken Griffey Topps Fleer Donruss 100 card lot". This way you will get hits. If you use something too generic like "100 card star player lot", nobody will even see your auctions.

    Good luck.
  • Thanks for the info.

  • that is about the same thing i would do. scan a sheet of nine cards and use turbo lister (alot of cut and paste). list anything that books for over $10 seperate and then group the star players together as said before. good luck.

I would take lots of photos. Spend the money on a featured Ebay auction and sell it in it's entirety. Add a PSA 9 card to the group and send it out just after spring training starts. The more scans and nice cards you show the better you will do.
  • Thanks a lot guys. I'm still in the process of trying to get myself to actually sell them is it a 10 point grade system yall have on cards? or higher?

  • I would suggest Mastronet. Let them do the sorting, advertising, and selling.
All you do is mail the stuff to them & wait for the check.

    Oh hell yeah !!!
