Purchased insurance, is there anyway to find out where my card is?

I purchased insurance and haven't received my card in a timely matter. Ebayer says that he shipped card on 12/31/04 first class and he gave me the insurance#, but it won't tell me anything on usps website. Is there anyway to find out where a card is with just the insurance#? I know it's probably just slow mail, but for future reference I wouldn't mind knowing if it can be tracked.

  • Nope, not unless they also got Delivery Confirmation. You can call the 1-800 number on Monday but I don't know how far that will get you. image

  • How did you pay?? Insurance number does not tell you anything. He needs to but DC. USPS will not even do anyting for 30 days on an insurance claim. I have items that were sent 12/27 that are just now arriving at their location so you may be a bit hasty. Had a priority mail package take 8 days to go 200 miles to me Seller sent it 12/31 it arrived yesterday.

You you paid with Paypal you have 30 days to file a complaint if the seller cannot provide a DC number then Paypal will refund your money.

  • No, I don't do paypal, I sent a postal money order. I'm pretty sure I'll be getting it this week, I was just curious because I spent about an 1/2 hour last night trying to see if I could find out where it was with no luck. I know he sent it, thats no problem, just want to know where exactly it is, but I'll just have to wait. Thanks for the replies!image

Actually, that insurance # does tell you something.
If it's the blue insurance slip (for $100 or more), the postal
service has a different tracing/tracking system. It is completely different from the usps.com where you track (they have their own).

What I suggest you wait at least 14 days. If you don't
receive it by then, tell the sender to go to his post office and
give them that #. On the blue insurance slips, the recepient MUST
sign for the item on that pink slip; then it's scanned. The PO will tell you if it was signed for matching that #. This is what they did for
me (I was the seller) and the clerk brought out this printed sheet
from the back generated by whatever the hell they were looking at and showed me the status. They showed me that it was signed for after 3 weeks and the buyer did find the item under a bunch of magazines that his housekeeper signed for while he was out of town.

If the item in question hasn't been signed for, they can put a tracer on it after 14 days....doesn't have to be 30 days as this is what I was told. Anyways, good luck. Hopefully you'll still get it. I usually don't panic till 3 weeks from purchase. Your purchase is still fairly early.
