Stacking of PCGS and NGC slabs? "intresting note"

jdimmickjdimmick Posts: 9,674 ✭✭✭✭✭
Dont know if anybody has ever noticed or even that they care, but last night getting coins out for the show, I noticed the following:

The Newer NGC slabs will stack on top of PCGS slabs and stay stationary/firmly in place, but PCGS slabs will not stay locked and stationary on top of the NGC slabs. Is this coincidental or designed this way so that more NGC coins will be on top in display cases at shows, where dealers stack many of the same kind??

This sounds nuts, but just thought I mention it?

    Wow!
    Another conspiracy theory.
    I like it.

It'd be sneaky and funny but I bet it's a coincidence.

I'll bet it's possible they thought of that.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

  • I suppose it's possible that they thought of this, but I really doubt it.

We had to look closely at the slab design/dimensions when creating
    the shells for our showcases.

The PCGS design uses a raised ridge on the front, which fits into a
recessed area on the back side.

The NGC design uses different angled shoulders front and back
which fit together. Another interesting note is that NGC changed
their dimensions just slightly at some point in the past 2-3 years,
causing the older NGC to stack on top of a newer slab, but not
    vice versa.

    There you have it! image
