Napoleon: Austrian Peace Medal - 1801

These are not that common, French and British medals predominate in the Napoleonic period and medallic images from other countries are usually cheap brass jetons.
The Peace of Luneville was one of those moments when humanity took a collective sigh of relief, it really looked like peace could be established and the long wars could
end at last. The subject in this case is known more commonly as Archduke Charles of Austria. He was one of Napoleon's most effective opponents and unlike Wellington,
met Napoleon more than once.
