  • Thanks everyone.

She was suffering from early Alzheimers as well. I told my dad yesterday how lucky we really were. How many people can say they had their grandmother for 52 years and a great-grand mother for 30 years. She got to see all her great grandchildren grow up and most now have kids of their own including a 10 year old great-great-granddaughter. Granny's only daughter my Dad's mom passed away 8 years ago. Me and her were very very close as was my dad. I can only imagine how he feels she was the last part of his Mom he had.

I went to see her Tuesday, before she took her final turn I walked in she smiled told the nurse in the room there is my Grandson Kevin. Then when I left she said "Thank you" and "I love you." Those were the last words she really said to me.

I went in Friday afternoon and sat in the room with her she had done become unresponsive by then. I grabbed her hand told her everything was ok and she could let go. She just kinda turned her head toward me clinched my hand and tried to smile.

Sorry to go on and on, but it is finally hitting me so I just need to say what is on my mind.
