All these posts about varieties- holy canoli !!! Just for the records, I look for varieties (on all denominations), and I too only get excited about varieties I can see without magnification also. Here is a 72 DDO-#3 I believe, which is not as strong as the biggie, but nice nevertheless.

Looks like machine doubling to me. . . Just kidding. I like it and I've really got to get me a neat doubled die like that!
I've had great transactions with people like: drwstr123, CCC2010, AlanLastufka, Type2, Justlooking, zas107, StrikeOutXXX, 10point, 66Tbird, and many more!

The minor doubled dies of 1972 are all really neat, in that they're only "minor" because of the existence of Die#1. My personal favorites are die's #2, #3, and #8.

BTW, 1972 was also a good year for errors, it is one of the two most common dates for clipped planchets (1944 being the other). I don't have a picture, but in my collection are two or three Die#3 DDOs with clips. There are also broadstruck examples of Die#3 around, John Wexler pictured one in his first book on Lincoln Cent doubled dies.

Incomplete planchets wanted, especially Lincoln Cents & type coins.
