Well Owens almost made it a season without complaing

The Courier Post reports Philadelphia Eagles WR Terrell Owens (ankle) said he's been frustrated by his lack of production, frustrated about the way he was used, and skeptical about the team's ability to thrive without him. "Maybe it's a situation where I was just frustrated. Toward the end of the season, I was really frustrated as to how my production had gone down. And it wasn't due to a lot of double coverage," said Owens. "A lot of people may want to say it was double coverage, but if you break down the film and see where the balls are going and where I am, I tended to get frustrated." Owens had 54 catches for 12 touchdowns in the first nine games. In the next five, he had 22 catches for two touchdowns. Owens said the dropoff was "probably part of HC Andy Reid's game plan to prepare others for playoff competition."

As everyone here who understands the game of football, all great receivers and running backs want the ball on every play. Owens is no exception. One thing I've learned this year about TO is that sometimes he doesn't express himself well. He actually is a shy, somewhat introverted person off the field. That being said, those who know him and understand him would not view these comments as "complaints." This is just TO talking to get himself motivated and his coach, teammates and fans understand this. TO gives his all in practice and in the games, and just may want to win as badly as any NFL football player that I have ever seen and that includes winners like Joe Montana, Emmit Smith, Jerry Rice and others.

    Stevek,

I agree with you. Michael Jordan would do the same thing. He knew he could get points, i.e. TO,
    and wanted the ball.

The difference with Jordan and TO is that Jordan kept it in the locker room. He
didn't open his BIG MOUTH to the press.

A professional athlete gets ZERO respect from his teammates when he mouths
off to the press about his frustrations.

So the bottom line in my book is that TO is a great athlete, who is immature
and doesn't seem to care about his immaturity.

Randy Moss + Terrell Owens = Immature Brats

zsz70 - I hear ya and can't disagree. I to sometimes wish he'd keep his mouth shut - but he never will. I will say this though...I'll take a loud mouth winner over a quiet loser anytime. I must admit in the NFL, as you know sometimes called the No Fun League, Owens does make the game a little bit more fun and interesting to watch and talk about.

I do not view that as complaining. TO is confident in his abilities, and he knows he is a great wideout.

SteveK - yes he does. image

Isn't it funny how we view our 'superstars', especially in football?

Marvin Harrison is arguably one of the greatest receivers of our era, yet for the most part his career has gone unnoticed because he goes about his work quietly. TO, on the other hand, gets a ton of press and run his mouth, and people talk of how great he is.
