Selling to the actual player??

Anyone ever sold a card to the player on the card they are selling. Closest I came was a Matt Hasselback card I sold to his sister.

  • Considering the fact that I'm not a professional card dealer and I've only occassionally sold my dupes on Ebay in order to somewhat defray the cost of the hobby, I've been contacted by a good number of former football pros or their family members looking for their cards:

Roger Leclerc of the Bears, Joe Amstutz of the Browns, Paul Larson of the Cardinals and Raiders, the widow of former Charger Don Norton, the daughter-in-law of former Patriot Bruce Hartman and the nephew of former Eagle and New York Titan John McMullen to name just a few. I've also been contacted by friends and co-workers of former pros like Earl Faison of the Chargers, Gene Prebola of the Raiders, and Chet Hanulak of the Browns.

  • For some of the new members, you might want to check out this thread too.

Common cards - have you ever sold them to a player, friend or relative?
  • i sold my mattingly collection (about 400+ different 80's cards) to a mattingly cousin

God wanted his tablets back, so he gave me $12,500 for my one of one Ten Commandment autographed by Moses, but before he purchased them they had to be PSA graded. They came back a 3, rounded corners.

I have never sold cards to him, but I live about ten minutes from Phil Roof. He was a catcher from the late 60's to late 70's.

    Hey Billa,

You have to be kidding me! I have it in a PRO 9. I guess mine must be counterfeited. I'm asking for my money back.

I average about a sale a week to players' friends and relatives--maybe more. This week I sold a Dick Witcher card to one of his relatives. Eddie Johns also said he was going to buy one of his cards from me, but payment hasn't arrived yet. Watch out for Eddie!

  • Sean Morey of Brown University, Wide Reciever for the Patriots 3 years ago was at my football camp, and we talked a little bit, he showed me a lot tips on recieving and he asked if I had any cards of him, because sports cards came up. Unfortunately I didn't have any cards of him.
  • I just sold a card to Billy Traber's dad.
