Yeah, I'd say that's a little bit more than 60/40 image

I came to the board to post on another card with the same idea. 10's are a joke. an arbitrary # that graders give out now and then to mix things up. also a great way to get more business as the card will be sold for stupid money and the submitter says , "that was cool , lets try another submission"image
  • Doesn't surprise me much that the seller is DSLsports. Somehow they always come up with cards that are graded nicely, but never seem to deserve it. I guess that is how it works when you are giving PSA 10's of thousands of dollars. I've bought 7's and 8's from them that I swear aren't even worthy of a 6.

not to beat a dead horse, a horrible 10 indeed, but all the feedback against PSA 10's always reminds me of the flack umpires get for calling wide, low or high strikes. image

I've bought lots of graded cards from DSL, 9s and 10s, and never had a complaint about any of the grades. It's not like they are just buying grades for junk cards.

This is the exact reason I will buy undergraded 7s and 8s....much cheaper and sometime just as nice!
  • Looking at a card like that begs the question.......why even send anything to PSA if the grading is so way off. If a card is given a 10 and doesnt deserve it, doesnt that affect the whole system? People will proudly show off thier 9's and 10's which is great until you see a card like that and realize that any grader can hand out a 10 for a card that is undeserving.

Its amazing that PSA stays in business with such fluctuating standards.

Anyone have over graded specimens from another respected leader in the grading industry such as SGC? I'm sure over graded cards won't be a problem to find with GAI but I'm really interested to see if SGC has as many kicking around as PSA etc..

Ya know that card has an unusual design with the vertical lettering on the left side - because of the odd shaped picture, don't ya think the card actually has pretty good eye appeal? And the corners look razor sharp - so taking that into consideration, I think it's a pretty good looking 10.
Then again, I just had 4 Buds while watching the evening game - what an ending!

But, I still like the card actually.

  • Mike, I agree with you that it has great eye appeal, but by PSA's own standards regarding centering, this would be a 9 OC or a 6 or 7 with no qualifiers.

I agree that the card is still awesome. Probably like this guy, he had it graded to resell to a person who will buy the grade, not the card. I stick to mostly raw beauties myself and don't do all graded. But, I do love buying those undergraded PSA 7 or PSA 8 vintage cards-saves me plenty of bucks. Sometimes if it is a card that is in risk of trimming, I will buy only a graded card.
So to all those fools and their buckets of too much money image ....I wouldnt mind being one of those fools...but unfortunately, I'm not!imageimage

    Kncukles,

I actually did own only one misgraded SGC 92 Bobby Hull 1970 AS card.

I brought it to SGC at the show in PA and they gave me my money back
for the value of the card in SGC 92.

They also gave me the option of regrading it. But they said they would
have to knock it down to an 88 or 84. I was very impressed with their service.
  • Knuckles - I own hundreds of SGC graded cards and have reviewed thousands more and I can honestly say that I have never seen an overgraded SGC card.

Maybe I've just been lucky, or they've been that good. SGC is a quality professional service, imho
