Acceptable Shipping Time Question

Howdy,

Just curious, what do you think is an acceptable timeframe to ship an item won on the 'bay? I won an auction and paid on Monday evening (so lets say Tuesday was the first business day) and the shipper informed me Thursday (I sent him an email Wed. asking for a tracking number) he will not ship until Friday. I am a bit tweaked at this. Nothing in the auction states "Only ship on Fridays"...I paid same day and I expect reciprocal treatment. Am I overreacting? I guess I could leave a positive or neutral and mention slow ship times in my feedback comments assuming the products get here undamaged. Thoughts?

I say within 3 days is fine. But if he or she states friday then you have to live with it. Maybe his or her job/time frame doesnt allow then to go. Some times I have a terrible time making it to the PO during Business hours.

I think within 1 week is acceptable.
I recently won this auction from this dork on 12/28
and paid with Paypal right after it ended. The following
day this moron emails me and says he'll be leaving out of
town and will mail it on 1/10 when he returns. His vacation
wasn't stated in his description and if it were; I would not have
bid. Yea I'm a little ticked about it. My final thought is if someone
is leaving out of town, why can't they take the card with them and
drop it off at the post office in whatever town they're in? He could
of wrapped up the card while he was emailing me and stuff.
    What an a-hole.
  • I got this idiot's email after not receiving items for 15 days...The 9 days to send him payment was cause he wouldn't answer my questions about including insurance. I also threanted to knock hi mout as a powerseller by leaving a negative. He sent me an email saying people who specified the gift in time for x-mas were shipped first.

Listen, if you have a problem.... call me. I answered your first email about the insurance. No, I do not think 15 days it too long. I usually take 7-14 days to get everything shipped out. I am not a store, or a business. I am a stay at home father that gets to the Post about once a week. Nowhere does it state that items must be shipped by a certain # of days. As for the powerseller, I really could not care less. I did not ask to be a powerseller, and on top of that it is 98%, not 99%. You will get the item you paid for... and actually, the cards are probably nicer than you expect. If you have a problem with me shipping out the items that people emailed about for Christmas.... then get over it. I did what I thought was right, and at no point did I promise you that your items would be there in a couple of days or less. On top of that, it took you 9 days to get around to paying me.... did I once email you and complain... no, I knew that you would get to it when you could, and that there are a LOT of more important things to worry about.

If he sends that email to Ebay it could get you suspended for feedback extortion. I got a warning from Ebay the other day for telling a seller(after 21 days) that either the item be recived by me in 5 days or I would file a non receipt complaint with Paypal and leave negative feedback.

  • In my auctions I state that payment by MO/CC/Paypal will ship within one day of receipt of payment. Buyers enjoy receiving the item fast and it makes for a quick transaction. I am a stay at home dad and found shipping by the next day one of the things I can to do with kids in tow. Now I just hand most of my stuff to my mail carrier because of USPS click and ship. I would think that within two days of payment is good and if longer the seller should state that in the auction. I find the slow shippers are the same people that will over charge for shipping or waste money on priority vs. first class. Lazy is one word that comes to mind.

  • Its not necessarily being lazy, but sometimes it is. There are times where you cannot simply get to the PO. Paypal allows 7 days the FTC uses 30 days as a basis. I live 10 miles out of my way from the PO and I am in one of those areas where you cannot get USPS pickup on packages. I typically ship 2 times a week sometimes 3. Usually Tuesdays and Fridays.

I had a very similar experience recently with a seller going by the ID vhexed. Ended up taking 5 weeks to arrive.
