Does anyone know the difference between BVG, BGS, and BCCG?

I would believe this is just the branch of Beckett which grades vintage cards.
BGS - Beckett Grading Service
The normal Beckett which uses half points on a 4 characteristic grading scale.
BCCG - Beckett Card Collectors Club
Grades much easier than BGS as the top grade is Mint. A card graded 10 by BCCG doesn't mean all that much and these cards are usually passed off to the uninformed collector. Also getting your cards graded through BCCG is much cheaper.
Beckett thought it would be neat to separate their service into two more companies. One deals with vintage cards. This is BVG. The company created this service to try to shake the image that they are a primarily modern card grading service. They also wanted to compete with PSA and SGC in the vintage grading market.
The second deals with....well, crap? BCCG is simply a much easier grading service than BGS. Beckett overheard one day that a lot of people perceive BGS as too stringent. They thought it would be grand to create another service that would give 10's to cards that were really 8's. Money and profit drove their decision to create BCCG.
In essence, i would only trust BGS of the 3...and this is only for modern cards.
<< <i>Can I trust that a BVG card is authentic, i.e. a 1952 Topps Mantle? >>
Welcome to the boards. I'd be comfortable that the card itself was authentic. If the card is graded below an "8" I'd be pretty confident the card was not alterred or trimmed.
I can't think of a single reason to use BVG over PSA/SGC/GAI, and I don't like the fact that their standards are different for any card made before an arbitrary cutoff point (1979 or older... 1980 or newer goes to BGS).
Amen!
