Demographics of Collectors

Here's my thoughts on the "typical" serious sports card collector.

Divorced, age in late 40's to early 50's, has children who are not into the hobby, but has NO grandchildren yet, very successful professional, huge house in suburbs, luxury car perehaps, subscribe to SCD & Beckett, goes to the major shows only, on mailing list of major auction houses, on PSA registry, has spent a lot of money over the years on this hobby.

Agree ? Disagree ?
Any thoughts ?

Most are married I would say.

And the age range would be lower: 35-45

    on average

    Loves me some shiny!

Single, late 20's, no children, somewhat sucessful professional image, Fixer upper, luxury car, no subcriptions, one or two shows a year, mailing list of two major auction houses, on PSA set registry, has spent "a lot" of money over the years on this hobby. Also, desperately seeking Vargha image
  • I was going to respond until I realized that you are only asking about "serious" collectors. There's no chance that anybody would confuse me with one of them.

I'm a married, one armed, black, dsylexic midget with a record and on parole at this time. Never go to shows since I have been banned from every show in asia and the western hemisphere.

Well if any of you old timers have no one to pass your collection down to once you kick the bucket I'll be thrilled to inherit and immensely enjoy your collection.
