A couple Liberty "V" Nickels from my Type Set...

The Liberty "V" nickel doesn't seem to be very popular vs Morgan dollars of about the same time in history. Maybe it's the size and the silver content of the Morgan dollar that makes it the more sought after coin by collectors. To me the "V" Nickel has just as much beauty in the detail of Liberty as the Morgan dollar. The reverse has just a simple V as a centerpiece, but the detail in the wreath is a work of art as well. Anyone else want to post their "V" Nickels ? I'm sure there are some real beauties out there.

I think they lack popularity because:
1. Relatively short and uninspiring set--only one mint mark date in the bunch--only a couple of REAL rareties.
2. Hard to collect in circ condition. You can find them all easily in grades up to a weak VG, but it's an absolute bi tch to find them in "no problem" VF-EF. Start talking slabbed MS dates, and the cost goes up exponentially.
3. Not exactly a really beautiful coin to the masses...although I'd argue that nice EF pieces and MS coins are attractive.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

The '85 I just picked up in AG is a far cry from the PR65 Cam I have in the set. My favorite is still my icon (PR65DCAM)
I think they're underrated... maybe because Barber designed them??
