I pulled the trigger on my most expensive coin purchase to date. My wife is gonna kill me!
I must admit, it was easier than I thought it would be to drop that kind of cash. I checked the pop report across the street and surprising few of these seem to be slabbed. What's the PCGS pop report look like?
Here's a pic:

P.S. -- A couple of years ago I cherrypicked one of the 66s in a regular 66 holder
Tom
a few years ago - a cool variety!

Very nice!
I also cherrypick a 1946DDR in an unmarked PCGS MS63 rattler holder. I cracked it out and resubmitted, it came back a MS64 DDR. Sold it to a dealer for around $600....He now has it listed at $1700 on his price list.
<< <i>I got an AU50 for $80 about a year ago, but the doubling's not as pronounced. ANACS calls mine "FS-011 die 1." >>
No, yours is the same one that PCGS slabs as DDR, although you have to guess with them, at least ANACS is precise. The other two 1946 ddr's are too minor for PCGS to bother with.
Apropos of the coin posse/aka caca: "The longer he spoke of his honor, the tighter I held to my purse."
ANACS will slab them all... I am not sure about PCGS. The doubling on all of the varieties is really not all that minor if you know where to look. For example, the one pictured appears to have well struck doubling in the key area which is the small bunch of feathers above the Eagle's left leg. In addition, there be doubling on the left wing as well as the outer portion of the right wing. Then look at the catus and bush...it usually is doubled. EPLURIBUS UNUM is not doubled on significantly doubled on all of the varieties. I believe the varieties that have the prominent EPLURIBUS UNUM doubling are the most valuable.
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.

This is killing me. It's just not enough to have a nice example, but to have all the examples known!! I'm blaming you fellas when I go broke!
Where can I find one??
There are other WLH varieties worthy of your consideration such as the 1918-D no initials, there is a 1936 DDO, I think there is either a 1929-D or 29-s without initials too

Must be his photo then. You can see the doubling on mine best in the cactus. I have a nice ANACS AU-58 1942 DDO FS-008.5 too. Used to have an AU-53 '36-D DDO but I eBayed it because it was too subtle for me

You have the good one, but if you need an example of ddr's 2 and 3, look for ANACS slabs that say 1946 50c ddr. Most that are die 1 with the FS designation will say so; dies 2 and 3 may say so, if the submitter indicated it on the form and ANACS agrees; and most likely if a minor one, the slab will just read ddr and you will have to figure out which it is or submit it to an attributor or back to ANACS asking and paying for an attribution.

Both are die 1. NGC and PCGS only list the strong one that has the FS designation, as yours does. This is an easy ID for the grading companies, and remember they also use other markers for making ID's.
