Gerry, why was ANR not listed as an option?

Coinguy!!! When I auction the Mad Marty collection of Weenie coins, Mark is the guy!!!
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

....or eBay for that matter. There's plenty of low rent stuff that cries out for eBay.

It's a toss up for me....I voted other (but ANR is who I am thinking of). ANR is who I like to buy from because I think that they do one of the best jobs of describing the coin, attributes and weaknesses. That being said, Heritage is a close second.

Where's ANR? They've got amazing people, and their cataloging is beyond top-notch. Where are they to choose from?

    ANR by far

  • I stand corrected. ANR should definitely be on the list. They are a first-class operation. image

Considering a vast majority of my collection would be ignored by the "big" auction companies, I'm going with Heritage since they stoop to my level. image

I voted Heritage, though I really would consider ANR as well. I have had more direct and personal contact with Heritage, and they are really a force. I really like the way they handled the Cincinnati Collection. Though my collection will never be superb like that, it is something to strive toward.

For your collection, I think the coins would speak for themselves and any of them would get you top dollar (so maybe go by who has the lowest consignment fees). I'm not sure, but maybe the Goldbergs are not as well known as the others among collectors. For your later date Lincolns, it seems Heritage is the only one that has commonly dealt with such coins in auctions before.

Each collection has its own personality.

There is no formula for finding the right company.

Critical examination of how the collection will be handled is necessary.

    Due Diligence.

    Patience is necessary.

    Research.

David Akers - He is supposed to be retired but he could be brought out of retirement for the right collection.Anyone who attended the sale of John J. Pittmans coins knows he will do the BEST catalog AND get the biggest prices. He also has an illustrious History

  • That's simple. More dealers use Heritage so I do too, unless a coin's unique.

    Teletrade?

How about just putting them on eBay?

    (OK, I'll shut up now...)

It depends on the collection. I would probably lean toward ANR. Although they are a powerhouse, they seem to retain that "country charm".
