If you were to auction your collection, which company would get you the maximum value?

And what makes you think so?

Mastro - their catalogs are top notch, and the have the most exposure in the hobby. They probably wouldn't take my collection, but if I had a ton of money vintage cards, that's where I would consign, for the fact that if I had the coin to buy any cards I wanted, it would be from their consignments as well.

Robert Edwards or Mastro, depending on who waived the commission, or gave negative commission.
    Everything else on ebay.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

It would also depend on the nature of the collection - memorabilia, autographed items, 19th century, pre-WWII, and post-WWII are sometimes separate niches for auctions. I think that 19th century material might do better in a Lew Lipset auction, for example.

BTW, Griffins, it's good to see that you're still around.

  • If I had a hell of a great collection (I don't), I would ONLY go with MASTRO !!!!!!!image

    Oh hell yes !!!
  • I have used both Mastros and Robert Edwards and was pleased with both. I would probably choose Robert Edwards though. I always look forward to his catalogs. Can't wait til April.
  • I also might add that Memory Lane and Mile High have received fantastic results with the sales in their auctions.

Did you say realize the most money?

or get you the msot money in your pockets?

An auctionhouse like Lelands will charge you up to 15% consignment charge and charge the buyer 17 1/2 % buyer charge. This leaves very little money in you pockets.

If you want the most money for yourself without having to pay HIGH CONSIGNMENT FEES and buyer fees, simply list the cards yourself on ebay.

It depends on what you are selling. If it's modern, those auction houses listed below won't even give you the time of day. If it's vintage, it will depend on what you have and the value. The best way, in my opinion, is selling directly to the biggest buyers of your type of cards.
