I just got a coin that was listed as a slider unc. - what does the term slider mean when applied to coins. I have heard the term many times but never was sure what it meant.

It is oh so close to being UNC but not quite there. In other words a fancy way of saying AU58.

The term comes from when coins were stored in coin cabinets, and mad the ability to slide around somewhat. Too much sliding made the coin a slider.

On eBay, it's only AU on a good day ... I've seen worse than XF called the same.

I thought it meant that it may/may not slide into the 'next grade'.

ie. "barely slid by"
