Another Odd Lincoln?

I got this in change the other day, Can anyone figure this out? On the obverse it looks like Lincoln is wearing a crown, was Philly minting Canadian cents in 1982? As for the reverse it looks like it was struck and rotated and struck again?

Actually the obverse looks like he is wearing a shower cap. My wife has on just like it.

I can't tell anything on the reverse.

More than likely this coin had that black junk on it, then was placed in a roll and the gunk picked up the imprinted image from a neighboring coin. It is highly unlikely that, as you appear to suggest, the coin was struck first as a mule with a Canadian obverse and a rotated Lincoln Memorial reverse, then struck again with normal cent dies.

I forget who it was that had a version of Occam's Razor in his sig file, but we could use a post from that person to some of these threads.

  • Actually, the '82 has been up for a lot of different topics as there were a lot of errors that are showing up in them. Not that any are spectacular but just a lot of them. I have a couple of oddball ones that have a "0" in the pillars on the rev
