utah is the team that got royally screwed!

in spite of the fact they are a perfect 12-0 all the way through the bowl games, they were still ranked 4th behind oklahoma in the ap poll. this sucks for them especially since oklahoma proved they were terrible last night when usc wiped the floor with them. plus it is even worse on the espn coaches poll cause they fell to 5th behind texas and oklahoma. what a joke!

OK isn't that bad, it's USC is really that good.
  • Here's what I don't get - Miami and VT leave the Big East and the Big East STILL gets an automatic BCS berth! Does anyone else find that unfair? I think someone like a Louisville got short-changed and deserved the BCS berth. Utah got screwed from the standpoint that they were matched up with a mediocre Pitt team thanks to the Big East’s lousy berth. They didn't play anyone good, but they crushed their opposition so really nothing was proven, which is a shame.

    Axtell,

Before the game, did you think that USC was going to win by over 35 ?
    How about over 21 ?

    I doubt it.

So that "USC is that good" statement sounds ridiculous to everyone.

When USC barely squeaked by UCLA, were they "that good" then too.

They were that good then too. It may be something of a cliche, but strange things can happen in those kind of rivalry games. OU barely escaped with a win against OSU and while they shutout Texas and got a tremendous peformance from Peterson in that game, it was still relatively close on the scoreboard. And Auburn didn't exactly make a statement when they beat 'Bama.

A W is a W, and USC has 20-something in a row and 33 in their last 34 games. Yeah, there's an element of luck involved in some games, but a run like that isn't a fluke.

Do you guys forget that you are talking about 18-22 yr olds for the most part. These aren't well oiled machines that are going to produce every week like you guys think they should. Did any of you ever participate in college athletics?

I don't know how Utah got screwed, they won every game they played. They can brag the rest of their lives that they went undeated and deserve to be national champs. If they want to step up and play with the big boys, nothing is stopping them and they won't be considered to be one year wonders like BYU. How many undeated seasons did Joe Pa have at Penn State before he and his team got the recognition they deserved? They finally had to step up their schedule to be taken as serious as other contenders. Its been the nature of college football forever. Did the good folks at Utah not know this of course they did. It's a little ingenous to complain now.

They're not in one of the major conferences and they schedule Texas A&M (decent), Arizona (Ha!) and North Carolina (average).

They're going to have to do more to make up for their conference in my mind.

As an example Michigan played Iowa, Minnesota, Purdue and Ohio State (not to mention Michigan State and Notre Dame).
Georgia played LSU, Tennessee, Florida, and Auburn (not to mention South Carolina and Georgia Tech).

No, it just sounds that way to you. I suspect you are a USC hater.

No one predicted USC would win by the margin they did...but they did, they dominated in all aspects of the game. Leinert showed he truly is a winner, much the same way Brady does for New England. He just wins.

Oklahoma looked dazed and confused last night...and I don't care what team you put out there, the results would have been the same: USC domination.

    Axtell,

    First, grow up.

Second, don't ever put words in people's mouths.

First you mentioned that I thought OU threw the game, or fixed it,
    when I NEVER SAID IT.

Now you say I am a USC hater WHEN I NEVER SAID IT.

Third, I have a policy that when I recognize an idiot, I no longer
    respond to their posts.
