If I wanted to sell more lower end items...

what would you all suggest? This is stuff like 1.00-5.00 cards. I dont think that stuff is worth listing on ebay with the fees.
So does anyone have any insight to selling that crap on Yahoo!, Bidville, or Beckett?
I may be wasting my time but then again, maybe not but thought I might give it a try.

  • Not worth it in my opinion.I listed a bunch of insert cards ranging in value from $6.00 and up during Ebay's 10 cent listing day and I didn't sell much.Hated to toss them so I figured it was worth $10.00 in listing fees compared to $30.00.
But with what you have you would be throwing away good money after bad.

Offer them on message boards like the Buy/Sell/Trade board at fixed prices with stated shipping terms. If your prices are reasonable, you'll probably find takers.

If you're in no hurry to sell, list them on NAXCOM at prices you'd be happy to accept (after selling fees and shipping are calculated).

Are you close to a show? That's where I move a lot of my lower end cards.

Yeah, there are shows...but it just seems to be stuff that everyone else has and trying to unload...thats why the stuff only books 1-5.00
There is a show locally the next two weekends...I'll bring some stuff and see what I can do.
  • I do pretty good on Ebay selling the lower end stuff, but I try to research everything before I list it. If you don't have shows locally what about a high traffic antique mall. Or something like what I am about to experiment with a local television auction.

Every once in a while I hit ebay sellers like tntnorthnj and mr.mem. TNT is especially attractive because they have a flat $2 shipping price for any number of cards. For a guy like me who collects a few players and works on sets for which singles rarely appear, it's an awesome deal. TNT sells their Prior, Pujols, and Thomas cards for $.50-$1.50, so they make little per card, but when I buy 30-40 cards at once, it adds up. If you did something similar, you'd probably clear out your stock in a hurry, and clear a few dollars in the process.

I'd try grouping them into theme lots. Like "50-count lot of 2004 Yankees cards" or "25 Derek Jeter cards" or whatever. I don't think there's much of a market for singles unless they have an autograph or bat/jersey attached, or are specialties with very low print runs. Beckett's values on modern cards give a good chuckle outside Beckett Nation -- where even if they sell a "$5" card for 75 cents a dozen times in a row, they still take the Beckett Guide seriously.

I'd try Naxcom.com if I was you. You can list as much as you want for free. There is no time limit, so you can have the cards sit for a long time until somebody wants the card. You would be suprised how many people will purchase a 75 cent card and spend a buck or two for shipping. I have purchased many 10 cent cards in quantity, and am usually quite satisfied.

  • I have to agree with jrdolan. If you put them in lots, you can sell them in one shot. Are the cards inserts? Sometimes I take all my rookie,#'d,and auto cards and put them in one big lot. I might clear less this way,but I only pay fees once.

I agree with the concept of lots. Also, don't hammer buyers on shipping on these type of cards. People are more inclined to buy the cheaper stuff if you provide one price for shipping up to a certain number of cards (i.e. $3.00 for the first 10 cards etc.).

Yeah, I agree lots is probably where it's at. Maybe I'll try Yahoo or Bidville first because the low fees are worth the risk for a round or two. Thanks all!
