Novice Question . . .

I've seen several references to "sniping." Would someone kindly define this practice for me? Again, I'm still fairly new to these boards. Thank you.

Placing a bid at the last second, or close to it. Since ebay is not a traditional auction, ending at a specified time, there are those that believe that sniping is the best way to win an auction economically. It is also a deterent againsts being shilled, or run up unnecessarily.
Some of the best programs for sniping are www.justsnipe.com www. esnipe.com and www.auctionstealer.com

I believe sniping has saved me an enormous amount of money in the last 3 years.

  • Sniping....find an auction you would like to bid on, wait til the last few seconds and throw in a bid for what you are willing to spend. IF you are lucky, you might win it. It's just a way to keep the shillers from bidding it up. When I was selling I would say better than 75% were sniped in the last few seconds. I have found it much more fun to throw in my high bid and never look at the auction again until it's over. I have been surprised a few times.

Yup, sniping is the only way I bid now.
I'm hooked, and will never bid the traditional way ever again.
Everyday I look and search on Ebay for stuff I need/want.
Auctions may end 6 days from now. I just type in the item #
and my max bid into my sniper (I use auctionsniper.com) and they
bid for me within the last 5 seconds.
