Mint sets:keep intact or break out the coins?

I have a few mint sets: 1957,1960,1961 and 1962. 6 in total. I am a Morgan collector and do not know what to do with these. No, I ain't going to send them to the forum members.

Reading through the posts, I guess it is common practice to submit the high value coins out of 40 or 50 year old mint sets and submit them for grade. Or, should i hold on to them for gifts to the as yet to be created grandkids?

Unless there are some killer quality/toned gems, I would keep the sets together... As usual, it depends on the grades of the coins.
  • I'd check them for FBLs.If they're are some it may be worth your while to submit them.JMO.

Thanks. The coins are nice, of course hard to see through 40+ years of mint plastic. The Franklins don't look that wonderful but I have no skill in determing RD or RB or FB or FBL, depending upon the coin. I see that some of them are quite valuable in high grades.

I do notice that some of the 5 cent pieces are very very nice. May have to post a photo or two and ask the experts on that coin.
