A good time to sell Sandberg Topps PSA 10 RC?

Back in November I received a PSA 10 Ryne Sandberg Topps RC. When is the best time to sell? Now, after election results or in July with all the induction ceremony hoopla?

Also, what kind of bump in price does HOF election generally garner? SMR is $300 for the Sandberg, but past ebay auctions have been ending in the $200-250 range. Do you think SMR is attainable now, or higher?

Thanks.

  • HOF election usually does not cause a large bump in card prices on that Sandberg you might get a 25 to 30 dollar bump, but then it will die back down.

  • I also have an unopened '83 topps pack with a beautiful Ryno top and Boggs bottom, should I send this to be graded, or open send to grade, or sell raw????

10% or so of a bump isn't too bad.

  • If it does get the bump it would be nice.

I think many people knew he would be elected sooner or later, therefore, you might not see much of an increase right away.

Uh, I don't know about that statement that most people thought he would be elected. I think in his heyday everyone jumped on his bandwagon, but over the last few years there was some doubt. If I had the ten, I think I would market it now while it is news. There are so many of his cards out there, now is the time to test the waters with a reserve. The ten will sell.

Perhaps you're right, but what I meant was that I can't see anyone all of a sudden deciding that they want or need a Sandberg RC because he was elected to the HOF today. Still, a PSA 10 of his RC will always bring some nice coin on Ebay, then and now.

I think only surprise candidates to the HOF would bring in serious jumps in prices. Boggs and Sandberg were predictable. If Mattingly, Jack Morris, and Goose make it, expect their prices to sky rocket.

I couldn't agree more especially with Gossage and Morris.

  • I think you may see a little bump in the price that will stick for awhile, since now this becomes a desirable card for anyone collecting HOF sets.
