Heritage auction through eBay

Happy new year to the darkside

I have been looking over the heritage auctions on ebay and I like a few of the British items enough to place an absentee bid. Question is: have any of the forum members won items with absentee bids placed well in advance? Do I need to snipe? And how does the live auction work in practice, does ebay keep up to date with the live action?

  • When bidding on a Heritage Sale on Ebay sniping doesn't really work. You might as well bid your max anytime. The bidding on Ebay will end, I believe, a day ahead of the live auction. If your high bidder on Ebay or Heritages site what the coin is at that time will be the starting price for the live auction. If the price hasn't met your max Heritage will bid for you against the live bidders up to your max. The thing you have to realize also that if your max is let's say $500. If the bidding gets in such a way that you bid is $475 then a live bidder bids $500 the live bidder wins the coin. Ties go to the bourse floor ..

Yes you can win by bidding on ebay or directly on Hertages site. As with any auction you just have to be the highest bidder ..

Bid at Hertiage not eBay. eBay has a 5% more buyers fee.

If that link comes through you can view and bid along with the floor on the heritage live auction .. But .. there may and can be snafu's so take it as such ... You will have to sign up beforehand.

Yes, You are better to bid on Heritages site. It will save you 5% I believe.
  • I think they need to edit the listing - look at the bid increment table - for an item that will be priced between $0.00 and $199.00, the expected bid increment is 1000.00 imageimageimage
