whats more likelyby the box

in a 25$ box of pennies ( wheat pennies)
or in a $100 box of nickels ( finding buffalo nickels. )

which one would be the better bet to look though.

im getting tired of looking though pennies but want to look though other things looking for old coins what do you think. halves kinda was lame only 15 coins in the whole 500$ box. any suggestions

I would go for $200 nickles and $100 in pennies just to see whats there..........in fact I may do that soon myself just to pass some time.

if the box says DCD on it pass on it they give nothing good, at least the last 4 boxes of it ive had. so far this is the bestbox and so far 5 coins. best was a 1934D but thats still nothign special really.

maybe ill look into nickels. i might try for quarters since ra had alot of silver the last 2 weeks. i think 18 in all. maybe ill try for that

its a good way to relieve stress, just start slamming about 50 or 100 rolls. thatll fix anyone big hang ups that piss them off. then you get to look for the treats, kinda like a dog thingy with the candy inside.

box A had 7 candian coins and 12 wheats including a 1919S and 1934D as the toppers.

more to come from box B

  • You must be flying through those things. I take it you are looking at the reverses only. You might be missing 1960, 1970, and 1982 small-date stuff. Plus, 1995 had a doubled die and 1983 had a doubled die reverse.

  • Did you mean CDC boxes? I'm on my second $25 box in a couple weeks and found a 1998 type-2 cent in pretty good shape last night. I basically look for doubled dies, rpm,s and any known variety. Certain years get my attention.

Your best bet is half dollar boxes. People routinely report finding Kennedy silver, Franklins, and even an occasional Walker in half dollar rolls and boxes.

Every year, every denomination has standard sizes for mintmarks and always has. They are punches and always have been. What you probably have is a coin struck from worn out dies.

If you live in a larger city with parking meters, get to know who processes all the coinage.

When I was younger, I used to get bags of pennies, dimes, and nickels to look thru - did pretty good. Once someone feeds the meter, there is no getting that coin back!

maybe worn out dies. just seemed odd it was smaller than the 69Ds ive seens and 69 S's .

id go back to the halves again maybe if i wasnt feeling so bummed with only 15 coins. nothing older than 64. my best find was a 42 but thats was in a bag to go back to the vault from a bank in NY. i went on a break with a co worker. he said hed be a few minutes and to enterain myself ( we wasnt suppose to leave) . so anyway he comes back saying lets go . and im watching them count out 190$ in halves. im like i need to get my coins . he was like ill be in the truck 15 minutes go by and i come back and hes like next time you pull that im leaving you and your coins here. hmm rough crew
