Nice Gesture by PSA - Free SMR & PSA Legendary Set Calendar

I just wanted to say thanks to PSA for sending out a free SMR & 2005 PSA Legendary Sets Calendar. I received it in the mail today even though I have not subscribed to the SMR for a better part of a year.

Thanks!

Since I paid for Joe Orlando's daughter's braces this year, I want one of those calendars!

I just knew they had a company jet. But where did they get the go-go dancers from Laugh-In?

  • Those aren't dancers, those are the famous Joe Orlando singers.

You might be too young to remember some of their hits like "You may be a 6oc to others, but you are a 10 to me" and they pushed the envelope with the controversial "Good Slabbin'".

Joe Orlando & Dawn! I remember now. But I thought those girls were a little, uh, darker.

Other golden oldies by the Orlando singers:

    "The qualifier is... I'm married"

"You're Nothing but a High Pop Common"

"He Had Sharp Corners and a Gem Mint Mind"

And their ripoff of an old Simple Minds hit..

Which one do I like more, the groovy hats or the one piece shirts? I pick the shirts.

  • Thanks for the kind words...

FYI - Free calendars and SMR's were sent to every Collector Club Member, Set Registrant and PSA Authorized dealer - we printed a ton of them.

If you haven't received one yet, I am sure it will arrive soon.

Take care and thanks for everything in 2004,

What on earth did Vargha do to earn a ban?
  • boggs301012boggs301012 Posts: 1,135 ✭✭
Can Vargha still attend the Luncheon at the National? image And was this thread / Varghas comments the reason he was banned? Joe you did'nt think Vargha was been rude did you ? Just curious I will miss his hobby experience and knowlege.

James,I think he's taken up so much server space someone decided he had to go out on top.Shameful to see this when people who come on here to make everyone miserable and raise nothing but hell are able to return when they feel like being a malignant tumor.

Aside from the mysetrious warranting of a ban I will mark this day forever on my calendar if I'm privilidged enough to receive one.Heh...what a trade off - David for a pleasant gift.

You know, I got to like the gesture too - for a more selfish reason. I have this spot next to my desk on the wall beneath one of my card displays for a calendar. But all the nice ones I picked up after Christmas were too big for that spot. Now this comes and not only does it fit perfectly, but it's probably the most appropriate calendar to put up since it goes nicely with the displays.

Note to self: Keep the bashing of PSA to a minimum.

Where is a PSA bashing anywhere on this thread?

All I see is lighthearted humor with no ill intent.
  • BuccaneerBuccaneer Posts: 1,794 ✭✭
Rob, that was a note to myself. Sorry that was not clear. I am not a Club Member and don't see any logical reason to become one. I like to pick on the commodization of cards in hermetically-sealed plastic slabs and the prices people pay for that privilege. Now I'll just pick on that issue a little less since I do like the calendar. image

Ha! or should I say Heh...image

    is the calendar nice?

Post a pic if you can.
  • Actually the calendar is nice. It came with my renewal package so I just thought it was a part of that package. It has a key set represented for each month and, if I remember correctly, has all sports covered. It also has key shows already marked on the calendar (which will help me plan ahead for the Chicago shows).

Can I get a 1 year membership with SMR, online pop reports, free subs, and next year's
calender to get rid of some other CU members? If so I say dump BKAH. His posts annoy many
and he offers little on these boards. He's really a pain in the arse.

    Carol,

You can send me a pm if you agree and if you need my shipping address.

    Thanks,

Gem, Definitely will after the season's over for the Birds. I just added the icon to show
my support. The Eagle's gang on the Sports Talk forum has got to stick together and
show their unity. It's a tough bunch over there.

hmmm, that is funny, cause in a different thread link, the sports moderator 1 said "family is sacred. The OF might attack those outside of our board, but we do not make statements regarding our children which might be construed in a negative light. It just ain't right. End of discussion". seems like not everyone got his memos about "family sensitivity". image

    Krazy-

It was a pleasure to hear your story where you got to see him as a little kid when he was promoting war bonds during WWII.
  • Who are these women on picture on new PSA calendar? In my country we stone to death harlots who dress as such. A fine company like PSA should not be wise to publish such pictures.

    I got mine yesterday.
I like the calender a lot
(and needed one as a matter if fact!)

But did notice that they added
ADs at the bottom of each month
that were not there on Last year's calender.
**We should probably thank them too,
as THEY are the ones who likely covered
the brundt of the costs of this very gracious gift.

    so, Thanks guys!!

And who can forget their mainstream hits:

Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the GEM MINT 10
Say Has anyone seen my Sweet Lou Whitaker
Submit Three Times (on the special if you want to)
Look in my Collection Pretty Woman
    Can Grade Her
    and their remake of
He Can't Grade It (like I grade it)

1967and 1973 Topps baseball wantlists (any condition) welcome. Once had the #14 ATF 1967 set. Yet another collector like skylaneflyer, gimel1 who made it to the completion of 1967 only to need the money more than the company of 609 close friends.
Looking for oddball Norm Cash and Cleon Jones stuff, and 1956 team cards
  • I just wanted to say a big THANKS to PSA for the complimentary calendar and issue of SMR. Considering that I am not a Collectors Club member and only a set registrant, this was a class move, and the calendar is awesome.
  • The calender was great. I started collecting the Cracker Jacks after seeing them for the first time in the calender...

  • The calendar is really, really cool. Thanks PSA.

Wow, way to look the gift horse in the mouth...backhanded thank yous are the best way to show your gratitude!
  • The calendar was the greatest gift I've ever received in my entire life. It so incredibly awesome and just so beautiful and I'm so grateful for the cool calendar you gave me because I don't have many calendars...and certainly not one as completely wonderful as this particular one. Thanks for everything PSA. You guys rule!
