PSA 9OC Question

I've seen this topic discussed before, but as a relative newbie to these boards, I've got a question to pose to everyone about PSA 9OC cards. If you had the worst centered 9OC card possible, what would its non-qualified grade be? PSA 6? PSA 5? Worse?

LordT - a card with worse than 95-5 centering would get a PSA 1 under their technical standards for unqualified cards.

It really depends - there is no one answer. For Registry purposes, it counts as a 7. If you wanted it graded NQ, then the degree of off-center would have to be factored into its unqualified grade.

  • Do you think PSA would give a card that was perfect in every other way but had worse than 95/5 centering a PSA 9OC?

LordT - yes, I do. I have seen some 9(OC) cards that I had to look at carefully to make sure they were not really (MC).

  • I have a 1933 Goudey #211 Hack Wilson PSA 9OC. The card looks great, and although it is OC, I personally don't mind it much as I don't think this particular OC distracts from the quality of the card that much. With that said, what do you think it would grade if it was sent in for NQ? I'd guess a 7 (remember, the corners, etc. are 9 by that particular PSA grader).

Set is registered in 1933 Goudey under Kenny Low (24th current, so you have to look at the whole list). Here's a link of the set....I have a pic for #211.
