For some of the newer folks who might not be familiar with a die clash I thought I would post a close up Obverse and reverse image so they can see what one looks like. I am sure other might have nicer or more defined clashes, so if you do feel free to post them here as well for educational purposes!!!!
Definition:
Die clash marks are created when the obverse and reverse dies hit against each other without a planchet (coin blank) in between. As a result reversed and incuse detail of the opposite side of the coin will be shown.
Top right side of reverse wreath shows up next to where the hat and hair make a "V" at the back of Liberty's head. The coin is shown rotated clockwise 45 degrees for a better image
Notice the "V" of raised metal, which appears on the reverse just to the left of the top of the wreath. This is exactly opposite of what is seen on the obverse due to the dies coming together with no planchet in between.
Typically no premium is paid for this type of a clash, but it is interesting in the sense that you get an idea of some of the problems that arose over one hundred years ago during the typical minting process
