What's wrong with this?

1. What's wrong with this posting? (and for all of the haters out there, it has nothing to do with the fact it's a nickel)

2. Wouldn't Ebay have a policy about this?

Can you find the problem?

  • Wrong coin #?

Coin # 4127 pcgs prices it at $400

This is the 2nd time randdboy has tried to buy this coin?

Actually, I'm thinking I'm going to send an email to the seller stating that if I bought the coin, the coin shipped better be the EXACT coin described and documented by the pictures... both of them. If not, then he just committed interstate fraud... again, doesn't ebay have something that makes this type of listing fraudulent?

And amazing that randboy is still trying to purchase this coin... but, he has been not so quietly building a set for a little while now.

The PCGS price guide is way off for this coin, as it is for most of the Jeffersons... I'm starting to think they had dartboards with numbers that they used to figure out the prices.

You've never made a mistake in a listing?

But... I should probably caveat this with... this is the second time this coin has been listed... with the same pictures. Maybe nobody has actually told him... even though I think I did contact him the last time he listed it.

Okay... so I sent him a little note notifying him of his situation... will let you know what he said.

And yes, I've made mistakes in listings, but I tend to verify everything 6 times before I list it to try to make sure I'm not screwing the pooch on something... and then, I tend to look at each listing 30 times before it sells (and have terminated listings that were listed wrong).

The problem in my mind with this is... why is this the second time that the same coin has been listed with this picture? Is it a simple mistake... then so be it and have some humor about it... is something wrong with the reverse, and the picture hides a problem... then there is a problem.

Also, maybe I'm wrong, but the picture looks like it's one picture, not two edited together. Thus, the obverse of one coin and the reverse of another, in two seperate holders were photographed together, in ordrer to make it look like the same coin... which was all part of my original reason for listing it here.

  • If he just relisted the coin...the same pics would be there again unless he realized the mistake. If he is aware that the reverse is the wrong coin, maybe he figures that since the more important info is on the correct pic, it won't matter.

I once put up a listing of a coin I had traded previously. It had bids before I realized I no longer had the coin. Maybe he's an old geezer like me. image

  • The picture may be fine.

I've scaned the obverse of a coin then printed it out then turned the slab over, moving it too the right, scanning the reverse and printing on the same paper as the first, Then you have a picture with obverse and Reverse next to each other then I've scanned the picture with both sides of the slab and then used that scan instead of using two scans ... It saves 15c ...
  • Seems to me that they are merged photos. Otherwise, the slab on the right would not appear to be about 1/8th of an inch longer and wider!

oh, yeah... I see that now... I was loking for a crease down the middle or some other type of sign that the two pictures were merged... so be it.
