Goetz Reimage and Technique ( Poll - Opinions wanted )

After seeing Cacheman's images this morning I wanted to see what I could come up with to reimage my copper proof.

#1: Was taken with one light and shot dead on with nothing else special going on.
#2: Was taken with one light, on a slight angle and using the light to show the reflective fields.
#3: Was taken with one light, on a slight angle and using a piece of white paper to show the reflective fields.
#4: Was taken with one light, on a slight angle and using a piece of black paper to show the reflective fields.

Which do you prefer and why?

  • I actually voted for the right portion of image #2. I assume that the effect is caused by your taking the image at an angle. If you can find a way around that, then I think that this imaging technique will give the best result among the four.

I really like the rich red/brown fields on #4. Yummy!!

Would a second light from the upper right show the whole coin with that rich color in the fields? Just a thought.

    Super pictures, as always!!

I voted for #4 because it looks the most like copper.

I think DorkGirl may be right ... Have you tried with two light sources yet? That might make the entire surface look "copper" image

I voted #4,, would try second a different flavor light (with more Red), indirect from the left and slightly up, just to highlight the forehead and brow and give depth to the beardimage
  • Well, I can't give any advice, but the coin looks like silver in #2 and #3 , so I voted #4 but I like #1 too.

The fourth image shows the coin at its best, but I can judge the coin on its technical merits better from the first image.

Oh, and by the way, all four images look fantastic. Certainly better than most of those I've seen from a few major auction houses that I won't name.

  • It's copper? the 4th one looks like your hand is reflected in the coin's fields.
  • I thought it was silver

  • It was a toss up between 1 and 4, I like them both. Lovely coin.
