........because obviously they know your going to be questioning the validity of what they got...

my favorite line is: We dont grade cards cause it too subjective, however we do offer NM prices....

I feel dejavu...like this stuff is being sold again! If the guy would have started the bidding at 99 cents, I think he would have gotten some play...these come on ads are getting very tired.

  • I wonder whose estate went though the trouble of putting all those little price tags on the cards?

The original owner prolly DIED when he found out the 1200.00 57 Mantle he bought was really worth 1/20th or less. The Mays looks like a 10.00 card too.
    Good for you.

Many of those price tags reflect what the card would be worth if it was in a PSA 8 holder, rather than being raw EX or worse. Much worse, if they have creases.

The picture of the PSA 3 holder is indicative of the quality represented.

Let me just qualify that I don't consider low-grade vintage to be "crap" ... unless it's being presented like this, priced as if it were graded NM-MT. These, you have no idea how many of them are trimmed, how many are creased. Just a bunch of price stickers to make you think it's a valuable collection. I like low-grade vintage cards, they have character. As long as they are presented as what they are, and priced accordingly.

This reminds me of the 1980s when I would set up at shows (and they were everywhere, every weekend). My table would be next to a couple of older people who ran an antique store and also had binders full of baseball cards they would try to sell on weekends. The cards were no better than EX, and many of them had creases, even paper damage and writing on them. That didn't matter to this couple. An EX card was priced as if it was high-book NM-MT, and so was a PR-FR card with multiple creases and writing.

Now I admit that my own grading in those days was slack compared to today's standards (most of my vintage NM's ended up in PSA 6 holders). But that couple, and the person running this auction, are out of their ~!@#$% minds.
  • The Food Channel's Rachel Ray was on the other day and she was making bloody mary's in this really cool crystal pitcher, I wonder if they sell them...
