Freeman and Peck are the definitive sources for bronze varieties, not Spink and definitely not Krause. Spink has improved greatly on pennies but has far to go on halfpennies and farthings.
The narrow rim is found on Elizabeth II halfpennies up to and including 1967. The wide rim appears on 1967 and 1970 halfpennies.
The two 1967 varieties are identified thus:
I of "DEI" points to a bead - narrow rim (Freeman 494). I of "DEI" points between two beads - wide rim (Freeman 495).
Most dealers do not distinguish between varieties.
