Wow! It's like a giant lamination that peeled off. I wonder it it's mint made, or post mint damage?

I cant see how it would be post mint without jagged edges and stuff, but then again I dont collect errors.....there is no damage to the coin otherwise...and the reverse is no problems........

Like it Russ? Its not even a cameo........

  • It happened after it was struck and most likely well after it left the mint but it's still considered a mint error. Very neat but would be much neater if it were a lamination *before* strike.

Wouldn't the metals be even if it was punched that way.

  • It was punched complete and after it was struck the part that is missing fell off - like I said, probably well after it left the mint. This happens when there is funk between the layers of clad.
  • Oh, by the way, if your layer was still connected but mostly sepperated, it would be called a "clam shell".
