I posted a question about this coin last night, got some comments. Emailed Leroy Van Allen.
Upon further review this evening, I discovered a doubled eyelid. Here is a couple of photographs. I have also attached one of the doubled stars.
So here it is:
Seven left stars, all strongly doubled
Six right stars, all strongly doubled
No doubled date as in almost all of the 1896 P VAMs
Slight doubling top of UNUM
Doubled eyelid
I haven't found anything like this in the book or updates. I think the star doubling is the strongest I have seen; it is at least equal to that in the 1878 early die star doubling.
Comments, suggestions critiscisms appreciated.
