Beautifully toned 1956 Washington

Sorry for the quality, but until I get a copy stand and the proper lighting, this is the best I can do. I say its naturally toned, anyone disagree?

  • That's a mint set toned quarter - I had a 56 set with two almost identical ones. They are much better in hand image
  • NT, probably from an original mint set.

Nice color on that one. I don't use a stand when I take pictures either. I usually stand the slab or coin on it's edge, leaning against something, and set the camera on the table in front of the coin. This works very well with slabs as the coin requires an elevation of about one half inch to get it right in front of the view finder.

1956 US Mint Sets, and less so 1955 sets, are quite famous for producing various shades of blue, especially on only one side of a coin. This piece has the typical blue that is acquired after long-term storage in the original packaging.

Looks O.K. I wish I had a whole set that looked like that.

  • I think the coin is AT. JMHO

  • Here's a 52 that someone gave me as a gift. The reverse of the coin is dripping with more luster then I have seen on a coin before. The colors are a lot prettier in person. I'll say that this coin is 100% original.

  • Gotta love them blues! Definitely a nice 56 with better than average toning for the date. Thanks for the pics, I love it!

A definite mint set toned quarter. Nicer color than most of the brown toned 56P's I've seen (and 52P's for that matter too...and 55Pand 55D, you get the idea).

1958 sets can also sometimes produce nice blue ones:
