Can you help me with some college football sigs?

I am working on imaging a collection of paper currency for a gentleman and ran across a $10 national banknote covered with signatures. It is a 3rd charter plain back from #2491, First National Bank of Los Angeles. Among the signatures that are legible are the following whom I found to all be members of the 1947 Fighting Illini:

Bert Piggott
Buddy Young
Ike Owens
Paul Patterson
Lou Agase

The problem is that I haven't yet located a complete roster for the team, and a number of the signatures are still a mystery. They include (with possible imperfection in spelling):

Rocky Washington
Pete Kollon
Jim Hardy
Herman(?) Hill
Bob Kelley (or Keller)
Joe Greene
Fritz(?) Williams
John C (something)
Jerky (or Jeremy) Clark
Helen King (??)
Shorlea or Sherlea Anderson
Plus others I cannot make out at all.

Anybody have any sort of clue on this one?

A few things I do know:

The first list of five players were all in the 1947 Rose Bowl.
The note is from Los Angeles.
The Rose Bowl is in Pasadena.
I don't know if there's a connection, but a guy named Rocky Washington was the first black lieutenant of the LA police department.
