My first Coinstar find!

A bunch of crap!

Actually, after reading here about people often finding silver, I'll take a few steps out of my way at the grocery store to check out the Coinstar machine.

And today, it paid off! Woo Hoo! Check out the corrroded 2000 cent. You can barely tell it's a cent. Four of the other cents also have beautiful verdigris all over them. And a Golf 'n Games token! Wow! Too bad I don't know where it came from.

I guess the elongated cent is okay. It says "Central Florida Zoo."

I'll continue to check. It wasn't that much work to take an extra step past the machine.

Not sure why the counter rejected it...looked ok to me.

image Last week another find, 2 clad dimes and 3 nickels. Waiting for silver!image My wife frowns on this but think about it, with silver melt at around 4x face one of these days someone is going to find $4 or $5 in silver making it worth $15 to $20. Not bad! Like a slot machine, sooner or later someone is going to hit the jackpot! image
  • I check the coinstars everytime at the local store and usually find alot of canadian stuff....no different today except I found 31 cents

    1 canada .25

    3 mem. cents

    2 canada cents

and the one I really got a kick out of was a 1976 Bermuda Cent...image on the rev is queen elizabeth ll and on the reverse was a HAIRY PIG.

    Still a pretty cool find...
putting together a MS 60 and up Morgan set....60% complete...otlher 40% probably take the rest of the decade!
  • I got my largest Coinstar find tonight. A whopping 95 cents. No silver though. 10 pennies (oldest was a 1973 P), 4 dimes (oldest was a 1981 P), 4 nickels including a Peace medal and a 1970 S (first time I've found an S mint coin in a long time), and a Connecticut state quarter. Almost all the coins had a sticky goo on them which could explain why they were rejected. image

Edited to add: I also got a 1954 D Nickel in change tonight at Sonic.

  • I've found some Canadian Silver coins from the late 50's early 60's at my local coinstar. I beleive i have 2 quarters and 2 dimes.

Also, found a coinstar jammed one day when i was changing some change. Got someone to unjam it for me and the machine spit out three 1964 half dollars.
