FYI: SEGS moved to a new location

It's in the same city just a different address, I got a special form from them with $7 grading fee for each coin and each 5th coin is graded free!!! Great offer expiring at the end of January - have to buy some coins now.

New address:

Segs Inc.
6402-B
Williamsburg Professional Center
East Brainerd Road
Chattanooga, TN 37421

you probably arrived at this through some high tech analysis, right??

They overgrade by one point. NTC overgrades from zero to four points. You need dynamite to break open a SEGS slab, my one NTC slab fell apart in my hands about 5 minutes after I bought it.

I will say this about SEGS...their variety attribution is probably better than ANACS image More text, more custom wording, labeling on the top of the slab, and their vam accuracy is slightly better.

Edited to add: After rambling I had forgotten the original question. No, SEGS holders sell for more than NTC in my opinion, but less than ANACS which is less than NGC and less than PCGS.

sadysta1, do I need a coupon to take advantage of this special, or may I simply send in coins and pay the $7. each?

  • I've bought a few nice coins at discounted prices in a SEGS slab. If I could ever get them cracked out and submitted to another service and if I wanted to sell them, I could make decent money on them. I know this will border on religious fervor but I still think SEGS has the best slab design out there.image

And it takes a brave soul to get one into a SEGS holder.

I have found that a couple good whacks with a hammer on the edge of a SEGS slab will allow one to simply pull it open at the seams.

Isn't PCI in Chattanooga? Wonder if there's any connection...

I like the design of the SEGS slab open the box and the label is right on the top of the holder. No digging and no fumbling. No finger prints on mine either.

PCI started in Chattanooga but they went south along with their grading. They are in Georga now so they didn't go as far south as NTC, grading or otherwise.

I only have two SEGS slabs and they are the Schlag nickels put out by the FSNC. I like the slabs design, but they don't fit in my NGC boxes. image
