Someone doing there what Russ has been doing in the Seattle area? image

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

  • I would probably say "BS" to this story, if I hadn't had a similar experience.

When I was 12 (1965), I bought a soda at an old fashioned soda counter at the local pharmacy. I got three RD IHC's in change and I asked the guy behind the counter if there were any more in the drawer. He said yeah and I bought about 35 more for one cent each! Some kid raided his dad's collection for a milkshake!

I still have a few of them, all raw.

    Nice find LeeG!!!!!!!

  • This happened to me as well when I ran the cash register at my mom's store. I found a bunch of Buffalo nickels in the till and found out where they came from when the kid's father came into the store looking for them. Another great find I had was when a Coke vending machine spat out a nice VF 1932 S quarter in change when I worked at a Benz dealer.

  • I got a 1928-C $5 Red seal when I was about 12 while collecting for my paper route. Still have it! Met a gal that was working in the Burger King north of Sioux City and she pulled a 26-s Lincoln VF out of the till. I ask to see her fing and was amazed that things like this can still be found although few and far between.

He got them in change? As what? Did the cashier think they were brown quarters or something?
  • He probably got shortchanged a half cent!! image

"...aaand two and a half cents is your change, have a nice day!"

He should go back and shop there some more!

have him buy something that costs one dollar, pay with a five dollar bill,
and ask if he can have a 4 dollar coin in change image

My thoughts exactly -- it's not like these coins don't have the denomination in big letters or something...

That Two Cent Piece looks familiar. image

  • Wondering what the clerk thought they were when giving him his change is a good point. What about the clerk who originally took them as payment? I salt my registers with unc wheats with carbon spots.
