K-487 JOHANNES BRAHMS, 1933,Cast AE, 90mm, Incuse edge punch “KGoeTz” at 6:00 o’clock. Choice UNC. Very Scarce RR
To commemorate the centennial of his birth.
Obverse: Bust ¾ right with name along rim.
Reverse: Tree with two shields below and musical notes.
Goetz's composer series did not catch on as well as Goetz had hoped and thereby few, if any, pieces were created beyond the small original numbers produced. This one in particular is very difficult to ascertain as a cast piece.
I was also able to obtain the shop plaster casts for this piece and will get images up soon.
