It takes about one minute to remove it from the slab.

It's the principle of the thing, i do not condone slabbing and therefore i will not buy a coin whilst it is slabbed. If they were to break it out for me then i'd buying it raw and it'd be alright but i would never buy to break out as it'd involve coming into physical contact with a slab and thus breaking my principle.

If you were to purchase the coin, I'm 100% sure the seller would crack it out for you. image

Slabs are not the worst thing... There are things worse such as being taken to the cleaners...

edited to add: taken to the cleaners in more ways than one...image

They are if you're one of these persons (like me) that has to touch a coin. The amount of modern proofs i've ruined trying to get them out of their cases so i could touch them, it'snot funny. So i quit with the proofs.

Coins just need touching, if you can't hold history in your hands then what's the point of this hobby? Might as well collect antique medieval arroweads instead.

I am more concerned that the population of original coins is in danger. I will slab a coin to make it alittle more difficult for someone to crack out and prevent it from being dipped to enhance its appearance with the hope of getting a bump upward with the grade. With Hammered coins, I doubt that this is a significant issue. With milled coins, it is far more problematic.

I feel the same way, Syl. I own very few slabbed coins. I'd say over 98% of mine are raw.
