Thanks, Stone193 -- Gorgeous W.S. Ticket!

I just wanted to thank Mike (Stone193) for this beautiful 1965 Cincinnati Reds World Series ticket. Of course, the Reds didn't play in the 1965 World Series. They finished 4th that year, 8 games back of the Champeen Dodgers. But they did have a decent season (89-73), and somebody in the front office at Crosley Field must've been very optimistic about the Reds late in the season.

Thanks again, Mike. This phantom ticket is a treasure for a Reds fan like me. In 1965 I was only 6 years old and not yet a fan!

In 1965 4 teams were at or near 1st place during the last 2 weeks of the season. If my memory serves me right the Phillies needed to win 1 game out of 10 or somthing like that and lost all 10! The Reds, Giants (I think) and the eventual winner (Dodgers) all were allowed to print WS tickets. It was a very hot race, and it created a lot of the ill will that those Giants and Dodgers team had, culminating with the infamous Marichal bat incident of 1966 (again I think)

Mays was the MVP with 52 homers and 112 RBI's

it was the first year I bought baseball cards
until then i had always purchased non sports cards

btw That is a super nice tix

Some of those teams may have even printed some WS programs
    Good for you.
