Morgan Dollar question....

I'm looking to buy a 94-S in AU. The fellow's reliable with a good eye. However, in the pic, I noticed a very, VERY minor reed bump below the 8 & 9 on the obverse. The price is $380.00. Would this bump lower the grade, and should a lower price be expected?

Thanks in advance. image

Do you mean rim bump? If so how big?
I would down grade the coin.

Yes! It doesn't appear to have any impact on the denticle(s) area. It's very, very small. I inquired about it; and like I said I've been dealing with him for a long time, and he didn't even notice it.

I hate rim bumps on any grade coin. Personally I wouldn't buy it. jmso

Depends on how far it goes. If it crosses to the denticle area then it's a bag. If it's barely noticeable, not a problem (although it can limit the grade a little if it is high end). In this case, as long as there isn't metal pushed to the denticles, it should be OK with an AU coin.

Hm...tough call, I have a pretty nice O/S morgan with a rim shaving/damage that drives me crazy. I would wait, but it has nice eye appeal go for it.
