Being a Colavito card collector, i'm always seeing what's on eBay. I ran across this item #5151879383. I don't know how to grab the picture image and bring to this forum, but i did record the item number here. The seller describes it as "Nm-Mt", and has a "Buy it now" offer for $99.99!!!! The opening bid is "only" $20. Somehow the seller has a 100% good feedback rating, but after seeing the scan of this card, i have to wonder how--it can't be any better than VG at the MOST!!

Welcome to .10 listing day!
The card is clearly not in good shape, and obviously not in NM condition. To be fair to the seller though he/she clearly isn't looking to dupe anyone by including those large, clear scans. The odds are it's someone who doesn't know the hobby and is just looking in a book; a beckett guide (most common) usually uses NM as a value for cards of that age. As for the feedback, the seller in this case is mostly a buyer, which represents the large percentage of their EBay activity history.
There are tons of these auctions out there.

Like this one? How about a 1989 Donruss Curt Schilling rookie for $100 in VG condition?

I am sure some of that is to cover the high costs of scanning.

That Schilling RC listing is ridiculous. I wonder when stuff like that appears if serves as some sort of symbol or sign; maybe an underground Shilling (Schilling) ring. Bad joke, 10 cent listings, and obvious other forms of communication aside, I may never understand what goes through someone's head when they list something like that. Maybe it's the PT Barnum theory of EBay economics.

It has to be. But, I wonder if anyone ever really falls for these things? Maybe a really uneducated collector might bite if the auction was really sharp, and read like a great advertisement, and the bid price wasn't so absurd. But this - you just have to laugh.
