How much of your hobby time is spent on the computer?

With the advent of the internet, how we spend our hobby time has obviously been drastically changed. How much time do you spend on ebay, card rooms, or other hobby related sites versus the time you spend with your actual cards?

    Hi Mark
I can look at this site at work when time permits and of course, at night. I can watch TV at the same time so I spend too much time!
I would say an average of 3 hrs/evening minimum. On ebay about an hour per day.

  • Way much more time spent on the internet. The ease and convenience of the internet is very addicting. My collection needs some serious organizing and I constantly put it off. I come home from work often saying this is the night I will get started, but the allure of buying something new, reading new information, and just seeing what's out there always seems to win out. I also need to set up a budget and establish true target prices of the cards I want; there are so many it certainly won't be a short task. Of course I will need the internet's help for this, but at least it's being more productive than the all out spending spree it has been lately.

You asked for an amount of time and I go and babble..lol I would say about 3-4 hours a day total for EBay and other online, card related, activities

About the same for me, 3-4 hours daily - but that includes the time I am on the boards at work. At night, I spend an hour or so catching up with my Ebay activity, and opening my mail and card purchases.

  • Hi, Mark,

It is a constant challenge to me to try to stay on top of my "hit list," the cards I am pursuing. It seems that every chance I get, I log on to ebay to check new listings. I would say — as with most others — three to four hours a day. Yet, one of my goals is to weed out my collection and try to make it manageable, but no time to do this with looking for new additions.

  • 3 - 4 hours a day for me as well. I do my daily searches for cards to fill in my
sets and whatever catches my eyes. And 1 hour on these boards. image

    too much time..

pretty much all of my card collecting takes place online.. i rarely go to card shops anymore.. and i spend entirely too much time online.. i have broadband, so my internet is constantly connected.. so i usually have these forums open on my desktop, along with "My ebay items im watching" page.. it seems like every time i walk by the computer, i decide to "look for a second" at my watch list or the message board..

Married with 2 babies so am lucky to get an hour a day on line... all while at the office of course! Get to a shop or card show a couple times a year.
  • Well since I work out of the house, I spend 8 to 12 hours sometimes online.
