Kennedy cut off

When did the U.S. Mint stop issuing Kennedy half dollars for circulation and start selling them for collector purchases only?

    Maybe it was 2002?

It was 2002 but the 2001 was not available from the fed until later. Since the 2002
was sold some have been sent to the fed I believe. Many of the post '98 halfs are
stuck in the system because of the small demand. Most of these will probably see
    the light of day eventually.
