I don't see what your point is? More fuel for the fire. I have 100's of examples myself but would never gloat. The market determines the value of moderns. Good for you in my opinion. I'll also keep selling moderns as long as the market is there. CD (NEMC)

That one isn't even my best multiple. I once sold another modern for 38 times my cost, and it wasn't even graded! Of course, on that one, my cost was $2. image

  • Well - I once sold a coin that wasn't even a coin for 88X what I paid for it. I sold it for $88 though imageimage
  • Dang,
They could have bought a real coin for that much money.

I admit jealousy as its the first step to recovery.............your too fast on the buy it nows and the last minute bids.....not to mention the ability to see through crappy ebay pictures and hazy mint set plastic.

    oh.........and you do suck.

These days I only submit profitable ones. Anything at PR67 or lower, I sell off raw.

There's probably a total of 10 graded ones that I've lost money on out of over 100 sold, but quite a few breakevens. I usually lose money selling off the raw dogs, but at a cost $10 to $12 a coin it isn't much of a loss.

I am so glad I never make any coins that sell for a lot!! Someone has to fuel the AU58 market!!!

What is interesting is you and Marty aren't the only ones breaking up these SMS and proof sets and submitting them. At some point I would think that after several hundred of the same date and grade are certified, the rewards will diminish.

Agreed. But with some the pop grows very slowly, and the Accented Hair in PR68CAM is one of those. A year ago, it was a pop 31, today it's a pop 35. During that 12 month period, over 300 of the coins were submitted for grading.

  • BTW, Nice score Russ! image

  • K6AZK6AZ Posts: 9,295
Well, that one may have risen slowly but I have seen some other dates explode in population, and I certainly would not tie up that kind of money when you could buy another one, maybe with only the CAM designation for a lot less.

By the way, how are the new fees going to impact your operations with this stuff?

More stuff will be going to NGC. Not really because of the fee increase, though. More so because of the new five coin minimum for regulars and the ridiculous turnaround times. I've just turned three submissions at NGC that all arrived later than several I have in at PCGS right now.

Not a problem for me... I send to NGC anyways... but I can count my scores on one hand... and that's over more than 6 months' time... image Well, I've got 3 shows coming up in the next 2 months image Though, FUN probally won't produce anything, especially with Marty getting there before me... image

I'm the same way with the Morgans. I'm waiting on a lot of about 300 raw coins, and whatever needs to be graded is going across the street. I simply can not tie up that kind of money for three months.
