1882-O/S Vam question

I cant figure out which one (3,4 or 5) this is. I thought it was a 3 at first, but from the pictures I took, it doesnt look totally connected. Nor does it show the depression mark like the VAMS 4. Are VAM 3s totally connected, or is there a space like in mine. Thanks!

I'm fairly sure that's vam-3. Photos of O/S coins are tricky...especially when you're in the market for EDS varities.

I'd point you to Rob Joyce's site with closeup photos, but it's off-line.

I cast my vote for VAM-3 also. I'd rule out VAM-5. The crossbar on the VAM-4 is just slightly below center of the O. Yours looks like it is pretty well centered and also looks like the crossbar is 'flush' (same height) as the border of the O. I'd say VAM-3.

I'm not sure about yours. It definitely looks different, but it could just be the picture and lighting. Does yours have the die polishing marks inside the ear?
