OLD VS. NEW PCGS SLABS?

There has been some discussion in several threads about old PCGS slabs vs. new ones and the significance in purchasing coins from dealers.
Can someone knowledgable on this subject please explain why caution is needed regarding this topic? What is the difference between these old and new slabs and the ramifications regarding purchasing from dealers?

Thank You to all who can offer some insight!

Here's some insight I learned many years ago concerning old vs new PCGS slabs, crackouts, top pop last 20 year coins, greed, etc. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE COIN. Good luck. Steve image

Buy the coin not the slab. There's neat stuff in old holders and new holders. There's also junk in both.

Doesn't even matter who you buy from, buy the coin at a price you can live with.

Don't expect a profit unless the market goes back up. If you buy enough from a dealer, he should take some of your purchases (should you decide to sell) on consignment, which might net you more $$$$.

    Good Luck and "caveat emptor"
