I can live with that.

Well - you put that many bald guys in a room and you're bound to average out "ugly" - Speaking of which - who's going to FUN?

You're only saying that because they're moderns.

I could go even farther than that. While I like the design and find coins like
the ones pictured here to be quite attractive, when looking at this from a col-
lectors viewpoint I'd say most Ikes are ugly. Indeed most mint state and cir-
culated modern coins are ugly. They were poorly made, and poorly preserved.
The composition is very hard which results in relatively little wear compared to
the damage they pick up. While there are beutiful uncs and beautiful circs, most
regular issue moderns are pretty ugly.
Nah, a few years ago I thought they were classics and still thought they were ugly.
Actually, if you had not shown that AT example I would have given the unqualified response that "All Ikes are ugly." Since I live for toning, as you well know, your coin caused me to soften my position.

i've seen many Type2's with similar tone although it generally stops short the attractive "Rainbowness" that yours has. many are gold, blue, faint pink or combinations. the ones that tend for really blue tone that i've found are the 1971's that came from rolls. they can be nice. as a sidelight to the post, with the recent anniversary of Pearl Harbor Day and several WW2 shows on the History Channel, it's amazing how Ike's importance to the end of the war in Europe are often overlooked.
in 2003 we visited his home adjacent to Gettysburg. the combination of the two sites that day were overwhelming. he was a truly Great Man that doesn't really get the acknowledgement he deserves. such is the price of humility.
